Attempting to build locally with pnpm install does not work

Question

Prefaced with the build works perfectly on vercel but when I try to run vercel build locally, I get hit with:

Vercel CLI 33.4.1
Detected `pnpm-lock.yaml` version 6 generated by pnpm 8
Running "install" command: `pnpm install`...
Error: spawn sh ENOENT

I've tried installing pnpm globally. Is there some sort of config for vercel cli local?
