How can I deploy a Vite SSR SPA on vercel?

I am trying to deploy a SSR Vite app to vercel and it's mostly working fine. The problem is that Vite keeps the index.html in the root folder, so Vercel serves the static index.html file instead of calling the express route for the root path.

Is there any way I can work around this? e.g. keep all files during build but only copy the build artifactso to the output.

I only need the source files during the build step so, only built files should be kept and copied to output.
