If you haven't downloaded Unity yet, this is the time to do so.

  • Download Unity Hub from https://unity.com/. If you have an educational email ending at .edu, you can also get your student license for free at https://unity.com/products/unity-student/.
  • With Unity Hub installed, create a new 3D project using the URP rendering pipeline. In the new project window from Unity Hub, look for the 3D (URP) option. Give the project a name, a saving location, and a cloud organization (you will find your own organization after creating your Unity ID).
  • If your organization is not showing up, log in to your account on Unity Hub.
  • With your project open, download the "Japanese School" free asset from the Unity Asset Store at https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/environments/japanese-school-stylized-221256. You may have to unpack the package "JapaneseSchoolURP.unitypackage" from the asset to make it work properly.
  • You should now be able to open the sample scene from the Japanese School asset at Assets/JapaneseSchool/Scenes/Demo in your Unity project. Use the screenshots from the original creator as a reference.

If you face any problems, don't hesitate to contact me at fronchettl@vcu.edu.
