The configuration system has been expanded and tweaked to allow for this, in addition to be (hopefully) more robust.

I'm writing unit tests for it right now (I'd like OK testing coverage of the API Client moving forward) and am very frustrated with the feedback given by the stdlib's unittest framework on failures. I was investigating py.test when I left off today.
