You mention only Emacs-based development environment, but it makes sense to add also:

IMHO the VSC Prolog offers the best experience of all.

Thank you very much for these pointers!

I want to advertise especially environments that support many different Prolog systems, of which Stefan Bruda's Emacs mode is also an example.

VSC definitely seems promising. I will track its development, and consider adding it once it broadens support to other systems.

Importantly, I would like to focus on and encourage support for ISO compliant systems, such as the recently appearing Scryer Prolog, Tau Prolog, O-Prolog etc.

I am leaving this issue open as a reminder to track progress of, and as a place to share experiences with development environments that are worth mentioning.
