Stackblitz Template examples not working

I am trying to upgrade from Angular 8 to 9, and I am not able to have angular-mdc working. Compilation runs but the components are not loaded in the web.

(Not sure if everyone sees exactly the same, which it should be)

I also tried to figure out what was happening using the basic template, enabling all components, installing all dependencies, etc. and I still get the very basic Button and checkbox, not the "material" ones (raised, etc..)
