As implemented, PRIM begins with a Box covering all cases, and computes a trajectory of modestly small changes in this Box to increase density while shrinking coverage.
An alternate approach, which may be useful for transportation planning context, is to develop a trajectory that starts from a tiny box (possibly a single point, at a reference scenario) and grows or shifts the box to increase coverage, density, or both.
