Hello, friends.

I worked away this weened on a Penny logo. You can see in this folder there are two images, my progression and what I came to in the end. Please comment on your feelings and thoughts about it and I we can come to a final logo hopefully soon.

The folder can be found here: https://github.com/the-heap/penny/tree/master/docs/logo

Thanks! 🎨

I think the design is really clever :O Would love to see a fully colourized version 👍

@JelaniThompson Thanks!

The part that isn't colourized is meant to be pencil, drawn by the pencil. Are you saying you'd like to see two pencils, rather than a pencil drawing a pencil?

Ohhhhhhh I see now. Yeah scratch what I said about it being fully colourized. I didn't realize at first glance 😯

I like the idea! I have 2 thoughts on the execution:

  • since the wood part of the coloured-in pencil has highlighted and shadowed sides to represent its different faces, should the eraser and metal bit have gradients as well to show they are round?
  • the hand drawn pencil looks too perfect to be hand drawn. I wonder if intentionally bending some straight lines or making corners not quite line up would help. This tutorial shows how make more pencil-like brushes in Illustrator that I think look really convincing - https://astutegraphics.com/blog/how-to-create-a-vector-artwork-in-the-style-of-pencil-drawing/ . Maybe you'll like it too

@adamsullovey cool ideas! I'll give it a Tweak this weekend.
