The Tessel Project is forming working groups to accomplish goals within the timespan of September 2016-September 2018. Read more about the approach here

This working group is the Production working group (Production WG).

Goals

investigate user needs for production & write a guide on how to take a Tessel project to product scale. Also build and document GPIO/GUTS (Great Uses for Tessel in Stuff e.g. hacking a production system) projects

The Production WG is working towards these specific goals:

  • Create a guide to production-scale deployment of a Tessel project. As part of this: Research user needs: What do people need to use T2 in production? Why aren't they using it currently?
  • Lead by example: showcase existing (or create and showcase) Tessel 2 in production applications. One idea for this is to create a blog feature called GUTS: Great Uses of Tessel in Stuff. In GUTS, people take apart existing equipment such as air conditioners, elevators, production lines, etc. and make them internet-enabled with Tessels.

How do I join?

  1. Get an account on Tessel Slack and join the channel #production-wg.
  2. Message the channel with a brief message about why you're joining the Learning WG and what you're interested in working on
  3. Work away! Message in any relevant Slack channel if you'd like help or direction.
  4. Attend the regular Learning WG meeting (to be scheduled) to see what others are working on, be part of the community, get help, and share your own progress

How to join the channel

In the Slack webapp or desktop client, click the word "CHANNELS".
