This would be such a shame, as there are no other Markdown Extra JS plugins.

Sorry, I'm not active. I currently use cebe/markdown + marked or CommonMark.
PHPMarkdown Extra was too complex to follow changes for me. (...someone help me)

Completely understandable. This was a great concept, but it does seem fairly difficult to maintain something like it. I wish Markdown Extra in general could generate more traction. Makes blog writing a breeze thanks to it.
