The problem: magnets are added from the menu. The menu hides the board. So we do not see that a magnet was added when we click on it. Maybe a palette that does not take all the screen?

How about a palette/container statically positioned where the magnets are added before they are added to the board? I've made a demo here. Click a "magnet" to add it and click to remove it from the palette.
The demo has the palette at the bottom but it's probably better to have it on the right since desktops are wider than they are tall and I imagine most users use their tablets or phones in full screen meaning they are also wider than they are tall. The demo is pretty bare bones so stuff like a green checkmark/back to canvas button and a remove all button might be good additions.
Thank you for your proposal! Why not.
The palette can maybe just be embedded in the toolbar like "the frequently used magnets".
Another option I was thinking was just that when you start drag and dropping from the menu, the menu disappear and you can drag and drop your magnet while since the full board. When the magnet is positioned, the menu reappears. The risk is that the user does not understand. I do not know yet.
