adding timeout to ssh client

I tried to connect to a remote server with ssh server open but very slow to respond. Then I stuck in initializing terminal and there is no way I could cancel the operation, the close button wouldn't work and I have to kill the process.

I think there is probably a need for adding timeout to the ssh connection?
