Describe the bug

There is a bug in the app creator - if you add component environment variables when completing setup it will not run (does not match regex) - There is a good tutorial here, where they explain how to add environment variables after setup (about 12:12)

Hi, @cherbear263! I'm Pierre, Lead Technical Writer at Strapi.

I'm sorry you're having issues with the DO AppPlatform guide.
I did a quick test and am currently unable to identify whether this is a bug on Strapi's or DigitalOcean's side.
I'll check with the engineering and support teams what we could do.

However, I'd also like to share that the whole Strapi team is currently hard at work on the next major version of Strapi that is due soon, so we're mostly focusing on first-party tools and content for now.
Aligned with this, as a short-term strategy (weeks, probably), we'll remove all 3rd party deployment guides from our official docs and these will be maintained by the Strapi community. If you're having too much trouble with self-hosting, I highly encourage you to switch to Strapi Cloud for a no-brainer hosting experience. We recently launched a cheaper Developer tier and we offer a 14-day trial. 😊
