test(path, exists=False, directory=False, zero_length=False): incorrect output

Hi ,

Can anyone help me with the example on how to use this function.
my test directory is not empty and
I tried with test('/test/', zero_length=True) and it returned true for a non empty directory.
where as I believe it should return false

Basically i am looking for some utility to check if any hdfs directory or subdirectory is empty or not
if empty i want to delete that directory itself
