our version of bigtable-client-core has serious bugs

  • I am a heroic dev
  • Who wants to have a stable system
  • So that I can focus on features, not KTLO work

Proposed Solution

  • upgrade bigtable-client-core library from 1.12.1 to 1.18.1 (latest) to eliminate retries bug

Design & Implementation Notes

  • Adam strongly recommended we make this upgrade since our version has a bug that can make it do double the configured number of retries.
  • It also has saner, useful, finer-grained settings.
  • It actually addresses a second bug too that might affect us.
  • He tested the new version with Heroic and it worked ok ostensibly.
