My name is R-J Lim. I am a software engineer currently based in San Francisco.

I am the main developer of asbplayer, a browser-based media player that makes it easy to create flashcards out of streaming video content, intended for language learners using immersion-based methods. Similar software either has a paywall, or is compatible with a few popular content platforms like YouTube or Netflix. To my knowledge, asbplayer is the only software with its feature set that is free, open source, and designed to work with any streaming video content.

For the past year, I've worked on asbplayer entirely in my free time. It has grown from a project that I created for my own language-learning needs into something that many others in the language-learning community have found useful, and it still has a long way to go.

This sponsorship would help me find a way forward to become financially independent from a day job, allowing me to spend more time on asbplayer and other language-learning ideas that I have currently have little time to work on.
