Hi,

LINQ to Twitter was born as open-source in 2008 as an example of a LINQ provider for my book LINQ Programing/McGraw-Hill. I thought it would be fun to share the code with other developers and I hosted it on CodePlex. In a way, it was a somewhat humorous concept that I hoped would make a few people smile. Surprisingly, developers started using it, even though it was an incomplete prototype. So, I continued development as well as working with other developers who have made contributions over time. I eventually transitioned the code over here to GitHub, which has worked out well.

Today, LINQ to Twitter has millions of downloads on NuGet and people regularly let me know that they're using it in their applications. The GitHub page indicates that there are hundreds of dependencies. I've always believed in community service and open-source is one of the ways I can contribute. I plan to continue and hope that more people find something in LINQ to Twitter that is meaningful for them.

If you would like to sponsor LINQ to Twitter, your contribution would be appreciated. Overall, sponsorship would help me allocate additional time on LINQ to Twitter. Here are a few specific things I could do:

  1. Improve Quality: unit tests, performance, scalability, and finding/fixing bugs.
  2. User Support: faster response on issues, answering questions, and more Stack Overflow time.
  3. More Technologies: multiple languages, more technology targets (TFMs), cross-platform.
  4. New Features: The Twitter API continues to grow and my goal is 100% surface coverage.

Regards,

Joe
