😊 Hello!

Thank you for visiting my sponsor page; I’m truly honored 🙇

I'm Alyx, originally from the countryside of France, where high-speed internet was once a distant dream, haha.

My fascination with computers started around age 8 while playing video games. I found myself tweaking .bat files just to get my cracked games running properly. This curiosity soon evolved into a full-blown obsession with all things IT. However, I quickly learned that fixing hardware every day, from 9 to 5, wasn’t as fun as I imagined.

By 12, encouraged by friends I met on an online forum, I dove into HTML/CSS/PHP/MySQL. As a self-learner, I expanded my knowledge to Linux server management (this poor beige computer tower living in the wardrobe of my bedroom to hide it from my mum… it was hot in there), virtual machines, networks, CI/CD pipelines, Ruby on Rails, and product iteration.

I started my career at 20, realizing school wasn’t my thing. Diving deep into my first job, at a fast-growing startup, I've explored various roles during that time, and finally specialized in the SysOps/DevOps world.

Today I’m a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a major US tech company, working remotely.

🤓 My focus

But enough about me! Let’s talk about what I’m currently working on:

Currently, I'm pouring my heart and soul into two exciting projects:

📺 3615.computer

3615.computer banner saying welcome, on a kinda beige and yellow background. There is a small computer on the left, retro inspired, AI generated

A retro-inspired name for a new Mastodon instance. After launching it and starting to get some new members, I thought it would be cool to create an application that the users from the instance could connect to, and offer them a variety of services.

My two first service was: granting themselves access to some Minecraft servers I owned, a perfect place to meet other members from the Mastodon instance! The other was about giving them a simple blog engine. A place where they could draft, publish, publicly or to their followers only.

I've archived the portal project, though, as it did not get any traction outside my instance itself. I think the concept is interesting, but it was not appealing enough. I'd love to get back on it with better ideas at some point. If you have some, let me know!

🐱 Meowment.app:

Meowment banner, a large black text on a pink background

Motivated by the momentum of the Fediverse and seeking an alternative to mainstream social media, Meowment.app aims to attract personas like Instagram users with a slower, more thoughtful sharing experience. The challenge lies in marketing: defining the audience and product in a way that resonates and engages.

I'm currently redrafting most of the app, as I thought the first one felt too much like just-another-microblogging-alternative.

Also: “Meowment” has to be a banger feature name and I don't want to screw it haha.

— “Oh no, I forgot to send my Meowment”
— “That would have been perfect for a Meowment”
— “Have you sent your Meowment today?”

Well, anyway, I'm just… I love the name 🤩

A prototype is coming!

The current version I'm working on has a fascinating stack: GoFiber, templ, sqlc, ProtoBuf/gRPC, and TailwindCSS.

My thought was that thanks to this, I could totally abstract most of the logic to the “API” and let the web app manage only web stuff, instead of also doing business logic. And I don't have to scratch my head during long hours while trying to use a heavy front-end framework (I tried some, and it did not latest long).

Bonus, opening the API publicly later might be far easier if it's already there and used by the application itself.

Thank you for reading me, I really appreciate ❤️ 🙇

I’m seeking sponsors not just for financial support but for collaboration on these challenges. Your backing would help bootstrap these projects towards a defined v1 that I believe could make a difference.

Thank you for considering supporting my work, or even better, joining the adventure!
