Set the start and end time of the setting

Does anyone have an idea how to implement such a task? I need to set the parameters valid_from and valid_to for the setting. And when receiving the setting, receive the value from the current period.
I can add the valid_from and valid_to fields directly to the settings table, but the library code contains write protection for the same group and name (even if I remove the index from the migration).
