Every time I update Sparrow from the .EXE file I think that some problem occurred because it doesn't show any successful dialog/message. It just show a window saying "Configuring" and then it suddenly disappears! Then I open the file again trying to figure out what was the problem that Sparrow installer closed all of sudden...

Plz add a confirmation message with an Ok button on the end of the process ;)

Have you checked whether the new version really was installed? I'd assume not!

I had the same problem today while updating to 1.8.0. I believe Windows Defender (or Antimalware Service) is stopping the execution as a whole. Nothing happens. Windows even complained that the installer (and also sparrow.exe) is a threat, because the vendor was unknown.

@craigraw: Should we add your signing key or something to the Windows environment manually? Is there a guide for this somewhere or can you assist?

@tadeubas: For now, you should simply use the zip file and overwrite the present Sparrow program files with the new version. (But make sure, you check the hashes of the files and verify your download, as described on the download page.)

Actually, it looks like @tadeubas did manage to install, given the screenshot.

@lasermind You'll have to look into the settings of those two services.

It was correctly installed, don't know if in the first time, because I run it several times 😄

The vendor is not unknown, but you receive a blue window warning about the execution of the .exe, but this is not the issue I've reported here...

Ok, I understand. 👍 I assumed that the installer was cancelled, because there was no success message in any form. But it did install Sparrow into the standard user directory (and created a desktop icon). So yes, there should be a short success message, if possible.

Then maybe a little bit off-topic @tadeubas: when after installing you executed the new version of sparrow.exe for the first time, didn't you also receive a blue window, this time with "vendor unknown"? 🤔

Don't know... don't remember anymore, but this blue window only appears the first time I open the .exe file, after accepting to execute, somehow windows don't ask anymore for this file, but if I download the same file again it will ask again
