I have code for fitting zernike's with scipy optimizers to noisy data. I will put something together to compare that to the simpler decomposing function that already exists in POPPY (https://github.com/mperrin/poppy/blob/b6eed4468e562bc5a4621c1ea3f8e0bc331cf48e/poppy/zernike.py#L455-L512)
