Topological catchment of axial maps

This tool works well for geographic catchment using metric distance or other type of cost on a street segment network.
However it does not work with aggregate street networks (e.g. axial, continuity, natural roads) using topological steps.
This is still a fundamental structural measure of space syntax present in depthmap that I suspect people would like to see available in QGIS.
Would this be a feature for this tool?
Or a new tool?
