Here are some ideas for improvements to units in future versions of the game.
Add a follow command. This would let your units follow allied units and/or enemies. The units would continue to track and follow the targets until or unless the target dies, or gets out of sight range.
Add a neutral mode for units. This would make troops neither attack nor retreat when encountering enemies. This could be useful if you are trying to convert enemy buildings or units to your side and do not want your troops destroying them too quickly. This could also be useful for spying on units if paired with the follow command discussed earlier.

Hmmm,
Technically the follow option is very similar to the group feature currently added on the game.
So, you can group a bunch of units (of different kinds inclusive) and move all of them, and have a fast select of them only with a number.
So that feature hmmm. Well is very similar to the mentioned.
:)
