System Information

  • SteamTinkerLaunch version: v14.0.20240127-2
  • Distribution: Arch Linux

Feature Description

Depressurizer has not seen any code maintenance in a long time. I am also not sure how much value there is in keeping it in SteamTinkerLaunch. Therefore, I am considering removing it after v14.0 is released (#1029). It will be removed after as this is not an urgent change, and removiing it after v14.0 releases may make it a bit easier for someone to restore Depressurizer back if they really want it to stay but didn't speak up while this issue was open.

Is anyone using Depressurizer? Does it even still work, either with STL or in general under Wine? Would anyone miss it if it was removed from SteamTinkerLaunch?

This issue will be open until a short while after v14.0 releases.

I use it on my main computer, but I don't see a reason to keep it around for your launcher.

You already have enough features you're maintaining 🙂

Interesting, I am surprised it even works! Thank you for speaking up. I will leave it in place for v14.0 at least, it will be a large update so having it in place for that should be good. Maybe in the meantime someone that uses it might also submit some PRs / issues to improve / better document the feature.

If it gets removed, I will leave a note on this issue, and it will be noted on the changelog for a future release, so it won't necessarily disappear without warning :-)

It's extremely finicky though. I'm only using the tags feature manually; a lot of the scraping is broken.

So I can take it or leave it.

Hmm, that sounds like a Wine compatibility issue, as if it installs, further issues are to do with how it runs under Wine I would imagine.

Sounds like a good idea to remove it then after 14.0 :-)

I get the same problems on my Win PC so I wouldn't bother worrying about it too much 😅
