I saw that the Readme at least grants permissions for copying and using the code with attribution of credit, but usually projects place a license in a separate, obvious file, like LICENSE or something similar. Something like one of the BSD license (3 or 2 clause one I think) may be a good match to the current permissions.

I will say, at least this you do give permission to use this code somewhere in the Readme. Most other 3DS repositories don't, and some just outright copy/steal code.

If no license, the repo is still protected by copyright.

As I pointed out, he at least has some guidance on how the program can be used. I merely suggested that a more standard license may be better, but as is there is something akin to a license already.

I was just joking about the suing part of course. He has talked about licenses in the past and he simply is not a fan of them. He prefers the honor code or somesuch.
