Crimson does not show the Double low-9 quotation mark (https://unicode-table.com/de/201E/) when font-weight is set to bold (font-weight: 600)

to reproduce:
preview the following text on https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Crimson+Text

„To be, or not to be“

Thanks @frisi – see also google/fonts#1424 for a similar problem.

Crimson is currently undergoing a complete overhaul, and I expect this will be taken care off in a few weeks.

great to hear @skosch.
will these updates be deployed to the google font automatically, or do i need to serve the updated font files on my webserver then?

Current plans are for the new version to be published on GF as a separate family. Once that's done, small improvements (like the missing quotation mark) will then be made to the old Crimson on GF as well. That'll be probably be a few months from now.

In the meantime, consider using self-hosting the font files from this repo, or use Amiri on GF (the Latin of which is taken from the latest version of Crimson).
