Some units just have very awkward pictures (i.e. crossbowmen and crown skirmisher line), whereas some others aren't really differentiated from the stock unit pictures in any way, or worse yet - from each other. I.e. Perrin and Ilyanis always look the same if they're at the same level, but have completely different attacks.
