Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

When initiating a video call, it says that the camera is turned off.
When the video call is answered, it simply shows a black screen.
When checking if the camera was selected in the Signal settings, the dropdown for camera had no options.
I've then tried to take away and give back the camera rights through macOS settings (which asks to restart the app), which did work & I had a camera feed again.

This is on a 2015 MacBook Pro 15".

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start a video call

Expected result

The camera feed should appear, and the call participants should see the feed when the call is answered.

Actual result

No camera feed is shown to anyone.

@BlizzardWizzard I'm sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad you got it working with a re-launch of Signal Desktop!

Your log contains three days of data, so if you give us a debug log now, we might be able to see the details of what was going on with your camera.

Yeah sorry that I didn't add it the first time.

https://debuglogs.org/desktop/7.2.1/a5a6c888a24cebe18369a4e1e928f4da5326a033153c0d8381ccd3049ec80180.gz

I should add, I found https://camera-test.signalusers.org/ and tried it, and it worked just fine in the browser while it didn't in the application.
