And here's a lib based on cryptography: https://github.com/balena/python-smime

I should probably archive this repo/update readme saying there are better options now. I'm not sure whether this is still used by YPlan projects at TimeOut (@adamchainz maybe you know?).

What would you do?

I retired an old yplan lib, pretty-cron, here: adamchainz/pretty-cron#98

Checklist:
[] add history note
[] add readme obvious note
[] update pypi classifier
[] publish new patch version for pypi classifier, readme, and history to update
[] archive repo on github

If the migration path is relatively simple I think it's fine. Anyone wanting to continue maintaining the library can always contact you.

Thank you @adamchainz my github notification got lost. My few upcoming weekends are packed, but I'll try to go through the checklist over the coming week.
