Hi! I'm Kevin Boyd. I've been using Sculpin for nearly 8 years, as a blogging tool and also as a general tool for building static websites. I'm sort of the de facto maintainer and support person for the project. I've been keeping it up to date with modern PHP developments as best I can. I've also made some Tailwind-based skeletons for Blogs and Landing Pages so folks can have a more modern front-end experience. I want to make some drastic changes to modernize the PHP internals, but I haven't solidified my ideas on what a modern static website generator should look like. JAMstack has changed the game of what is expected from static site generators, and Sculpin isn't currently positioned to take advantage of those approaches. Arguably, there's also a philosophical bent to the project that suggests it shouldn't try to delve into such areas - perhaps it should only ever be a backend tool for converting markdown and twig templates to websites? Seems like a perfect candidate for a community discussion. |

Hi! I am a dilettante (also on VI) in need of a tool to push cli-created notes to a personal log, and happened upon Sculpin quite by accident (trying to avoid node/ruby tbh.)
Internally, no ideas. (TODO: read up on JAMstack) Design-wise: simpler. Do less. If I cannot pipe stuff through, I likely will not implement it. User-defined directory hierarchy. Also, howdy neighbor. 👋 |
