Provide a way to easily share routes and to search for routes in a world based on distance, elevation, KOMs, sprints etc.

Would need to be accessible from both route builder and runner. Perhaps a website to browse routes would be useful too.

It would be awesome, clearly. Was thinking of this already, provide a public / recommanded library routes. Can be interesting if this can bring suggested routes + wourkout / groupe ride or races.

Could be worth collaborating with ZwiftInsider on hosting this if you don't want to do something on your own.

I've tried to get in contact with Zwift Insider but no luck so far.

Things are progressing nicely on this and it’s leading up to a pre-release that enables this functionality for beta testers.

Right now you can choose to either load a route from a local file (as was the default before) or search for a route.

Routes are available from a number of “repositories”:

  • Local This is a folder in the user data directory where RoadCaptain also stores logs and user preferences. It’s meant to replace the regular local files.
  • Rebel Routes This is a static list of the rebel routes as built by Zwift Insider. New rebel routes will be added as they are released.
  • RoadCaptain shared This is the big one: this is a place where every RoadCaptain user can upload their routes for other users to ride 🎉

When you start RoadCaptain Runner, you can click the Search button and you will be presented with this screen:

As you can see there are plenty of search options which will allow you to find the best route you want today 👌

Sharing a route happens from RoadCaptain Route Builder. The save route dialog asks you whether you want to store it in a repository, when you select the RoadCaptain shared one your route will be uploaded and will become available to other users.

A nice bonus is that you can also search for a route from Route Builder, load it and then modify it. That means you can pick a route someone else created and add some extra segments to it if you want 👌

Of course loading and saving routes to a local file remains perfectly possible so you won’t lose your existing routes 👍

Looking forward to getting into this; sharing my routes with others and exploring routes other people have created!

I figured as much.
I’m just a little hesitant to download the pre-release builds... :)
