Firefox Extension Requires Too Many Permissions - People Refusing To Install Extension #420

The permissions requested from the extension currently include:

  • Access your data for all websites

  • Access browser tabs
  • Access browser activity during navigation

This permission system leaves the extension vulnerable to attack as this would include passwords entered on sites etc. Friends won't install extension due to it's broad permissions request.

At the very least reducing this to 'named sites' such as Netflix, Youtube, etc. would be better than any site you visit or browse.

Thanks for considering.

You also need to consider that other people like me want to use other sites with e.g. Plain MP4 with the Tool. If there is a way to make that possible without only whitelisting some sites i would be into it. Maybe meanwhile your friends can use an throw-away Browser like edge, ungoogled Chromium or an Custom Profile in Vivaldi for the App.
