Coverage CI test failing due to compiler bug (being addressed upstream) #543

This is just a tracking issue to report that the cause for the current Coverage step failures of the GitHub Actions workflow is being followed up. This can be closed once the respective rust nightly compiler bug is resolved.

I originally filed a bug over at rust based on the testing failure in this unrelated PR. This was found to be a duplicate of this issue that nicely tracks progress on addressing this bug.

Once this is fixed upstream, we should revert #557. In that PR, @johanneskoester identified this RFC as a more thorough solution:
rust-lang/rust#86656
