I would like to request the addition of transcription and translation functions to the Rust-Bio crate. These functions would enable convenient and efficient processing of biological sequences, similar to the functionality available in Biopython.
The transcription function would convert DNA sequences into RNA sequences by replacing thymine (T) with uracil (U). This step is crucial for gene expression analysis and downstream investigations.
The translation function would allow the conversion of RNA sequences into protein sequences using the genetic code. This process involves mapping consecutive triplets of RNA nucleotides (codons) to specific amino acids, resulting in protein sequences.
By incorporating transcription and translation functions into Rust-Bio, users would have a comprehensive and powerful toolkit for working with biological sequences, covering essential operations from sequence manipulation to higher-level analyses.
