Better-bibtex won't install #1537

It looks like you did not upload an debug report. The debug report is important; it gives @retorquere your current BBT settings and a copy of the problematic reference as a test case so he can best replicate your problem. Without it, @retorquere is effectively blind. Debug reports are useful for both bug analysis and enhancement requests; in the case of export enhancements, I need the copy of the references you have in mind. This request is much more likely than not to apply to you, too, even if you think it unlikely, and even if it does not, there's no harm in sending a debug log that turns out to be unnecessary. @retorquere will more often than not just end up saying "please send a debug log first". Let's just skip over the unnecesary delay this entails. Sending a debug log is very easy:
Once done, you will see a debug ID in red. Please post that debug id in the issue here. Thank you! |

You need a newer version; 5.0.77 or later. The latest version for Linux is 5.0.78. You have almost certainly installed Zotero from https://launchpad.net/~smathot/+archive/ubuntu/cogscinl, which has stopped publishing updates over a year ago. If this is indeed the case, you would need to uninstall zotero, remove the smathot repo from /etc/apt, and either
Uninstalling and reinstalling Zotero will not affect your zotero library. |
Thanks Emiliano! Although I thought that I had installed zotero from the zotero website directly using their tarball... I had previously installed it using the cogscinl ppa from a few years ago - and because I had not uninstalled that ppa, the fresh installation that I thought I had done, well, it didn't work. Deleting the ppa, subsequent uninstalling zotero, and reinstalling using your link worked like a charm. Again, thanks for your help! |

When I try to install better bibtex, I get the following error: The add-on "Better BibTex for Zotero" could not be installed. It may be incompatible with this version of Zotero.
What versions of zotero is better bibtex compatible with? I couldnt find this on the website. I have updated my zotero application to 5.0.60, which is the latest version available for linux. I am running Ubuntu 16.04. Maybe I need to run an older version of zotero? If that's the case, what version?
