Suggestions-

1. Date-wise ascending/descending order in work experiences and schooling.
2. Option of adding Board in schooling.
3. Location detection while adding a location in the school and work locations.
4. Optional photo in the upcoming themes.

Design-

1. Can add icons for headings- experiences, schooling, skills etc. in the upcoming themes.
2. Position of "work link" in experiences can be shifted towards the right. It will look uniform and also save the bottom space for further additions.

We only support Chrome Browser and Some Chromium Browser. If You are using Safari/Firefox/something else I request you to use Google Chrome & if You are using Google Chrome make sure to use Save as PDF option in spite of any OS Based Printer like Microsoft Print to PDF

Hey, I don't know what happen but now I am not able to download a one-page resume it just downloads a 2-page resume, and on the first page, only a few of the information shown just name and contact details.

Hey @kulu123-z, we're launching our Version 2 this Tuesday, 31st August 2021 where you will not have to worry about saving your resume as a pdf, we now provide you with a downloadable PDF resume.

@hesoyamm We have also added a dedicated detailed section for Publications along with DOI linking and APA and MLA styles for showing you papers and articles.

Suggestions -

1. Social media profile links on my resume are not redirecting me to the website, also I think it would be better if the user has to give only the username of social media profiles instead of a full link.
2. When you select starting or ending year of a degree from the drop-down menu I felt that the selected year is highlighted twice.
   
3. When I select the year from this menu it does not go away and I have to click outside of it.

What I liked -

1. Very clean and appealing UI.
2. Separate scrolling for left pane when the cursor is there keeping resume pane stable.

Hi @Shubham-Agarwal16, thanks a lot for testing the application! I'm glad you like the UI. I would like to address all of your issues.

1. I believe that the links should be working and it only shows the social media handles instead of the full link.
   
   What you need to do is to put the whole link in the Input for example: https://github.com/viveknigam3003 and it will only show viveknigam3003 on the resume.

2. I did not quite understand how to reproduce this particular issue. Could you please elaborate a little more?

That must be happening because of Framer Motion applied on the div. This would be expected for all of the sections like Experience and Education too. I'll look into this to fix this 👀

1. I'd love it if you suggest me any section to add, and I'll put it there. Editable headings could make the database very irregular and would cause bugs for other users as well.
2. I added a Portfolio Link section for anyone who wishes to add an extra link for them. Would you like me to allow multiple custom links in the header?

Hey Vivek,
You have developed an amazing piece of software. Kudos! It was very easy to use as well :)
Here are few points I have as feedback after trying it out for my resume

• If the start date of the job is Jan 2021, it gets displayed as "Present". So a job I am working at right now which I have started on Jan 2021 gets displayed as "Present-Present"
• Is there anyway we can remove a section altogether. For ex : I don't have any certifications. But the certification sections comes up on the generated resume even though I have nothing under it :(
• Any way you can download the pdf version of the resume without having to print it and then save it?

I will try contributing to the project if time permits (don't have too much experience in open-source dev though)

• YES Indeed, you can remove a section altogether. Go to the User Settings by clicking on your avatar on the top right and switch off the sections you don't want on your Resume 😄
• The reason of putting that Print Preview was to aid the user in understanding how their final resume would look like on Actual Paper, so that they may rearrange the sections if it exceeds one-page.

Yes, that would be fine. What I meant was, it should display "Jan 2021 - Present", looks like its detecting Jan 2021 as Present and replacing it with that to give "Present-present"

YES Indeed, you can remove a section altogether. Go to the User Settings by clicking on your avatar on the top right and switch off the sections you don't want on your Resume.

Hey Vivek! First of all congratulations on this project 😄 It is very useful for everyone who are looking for a Resume Template that can get them into FAANG 😬

Suggestions:

1. Apart from the sections mentioned by @alekh42. Include sections like 'Publications', 'Open-Source Work'.
2. The option to remove/turn-off the section should be available on the same page only. It would be more convenient.
3. Improve the auto-categorization of the Skills Section.
   
4. Add an option beside Project Name to show Code/Website instead of hyperlinking the Project Name.

I would address your concerns as follows -

• For the sections, please feel free to open an issue and mention which sections you would like to see there. Others can join in too 😄
• For the skill-classification, I'll allow the users to choose the categories for skills classified as Miscellaneous. Also I'll have to figure out a better approach so that it is easily scalable with increasing data set. If you have any approach let me know!
• I'll add the link option clearly displayed instead of hyperlinking the Project name, I guess that will be better.

• For the skill-classification, there can be a way to improve and learn from the users as they choose the categories for Miscellaneous. Like, most of the Technical Skills are almost similar so I'm hoping there won't be that huge a dataset.
• Yes, adding the Link beside the Project name will be more clear.

@thesauravkarmakar I'd be glad to tell you that we're launching Resuminator v2 with Custom Section support where you can create your own sections like Open Source Work, Achievements etc with date ranges as well. Also now you shall find a dedicated Design tab that gives you multiple Font Pairings and Spacing profiles
Auto skill classification didn't work as expected so we have provided manual categorization support in v2.

1. The padding in the project section is too tight. Compared to the section of work experience, it looks cramped.
2. The ability to rename the sections While the ratio of sections can remain the same, you can still let users name their sections.
3. Added support for Codeforces/Codechef handles.
4. Ability to rearrange the sections through dragging.
   5)The Branch and Degree should be in different lines.

• I will look into the padding part of the project section for sure, as it must look beautiful.
• Instead of renaming the sections, I'm planning to add more sections. The possible candidates are under discussion on Adding Achievements Section #27.
• Codeforces/Codechef is a unique thing to add. I'll definitely look into how and where I can incorporate it the best. You may open another issue regarding this 😅
• The application already supports drag-n-drop to rearrange the section, I would encourage you to try it out 😄
• The branch and degree issue could be fixed with a new template altogether, which I have planned to add soon enough.

For codechef and codeforces social handles we have added Custom Social handle support! Also now you can rearrange the cards inside a section as well 🥳

Hey Vivek,
First of all, congratulations on an amazing piece of software! It was quite easy to use and the UX was also nice.
I have the following feedback after trying it out for my resume:

• Bug: Clicking on the 'Add' button under the experience, education and project category results in erasure of all the previously filled data in that category. I encountered this multiple times on almost every category, refreshed and tried again with the same result.
• Requires more editable headings such as achievements, publications, contributions etc.
• Maybe make the Max Grade optional? for example instead of showing my board percentage as 95/100, I'd just like it to be 95%. Currently leaving the max grade field empty still gives me a '/' symbol.
• User should have the ability to choose the skill categories.

I would like to address all your concerns here -

• For the 🐛 BUG: I tried to reproduce it but was unable to. Did you click on the ☑️ Button at the bottom right of the card? Right now the application does not support Autosave so you'll have to click on the ☑️ button to save the details you entered. I hope this solves your issue. I'll improve the UI to make it more obvious now. 😅
• For new sections, there is a discussion opened in Adding Achievements Section #27, you may vote or add your suggestions there. I would try to add new sections as soon as possible.
• The MAX GRADE thing would be really helpful, I would find a way to incorporate it there. Thanks for this suggestion!
• I'm figuring out the best way to let users handle the categories and help the system learn better as also stated in the discussion with @thesauravkarmakar above.

• Resuminator does not remember the section position. It should remember the position from the last session.
• Able to change the position of "Built using Resuminator" Like
  • Corner
  • Option between Horizontal & Vertical. (As Horizontally can be little intrusive)

• For saving the position, after you rearrange your sections on the resume, there will be an option to "Save Layout" on top of the resume paper shown on the right. Once you press that it will persist the location of the sections. I shall make that more evident by adding some hints though 😄
• The watermark location is definitely a good enhancement! Would you mind opening an issue for this? I would fix that in a PR soon.

Like, when all sections are aligned in vertically, and when nothin's left on the left (or right) column, the sections would grow to fill the whole width of the page

• Feature to rearrange elements under a section (in the edit section). I had to delete a previous experience & add it again just to change the ordering!
• Feature to undo deletion or delete confirmation.

PS: While big Giants are adopting ATS, I would like to point out in company like Google and Twitter, Their Talent Acquisition Team read all resumes but the time spend on each resume is approx 6 seconds.

Great overall design and concept!👌🏼

Suggestions :

1. You can add a feature to create a shareable link of the resume created, cause sometimes a form or application directly asks for the link to resume instead of the PDF. (I think it can be created by adding a route /:user_id which will fetch the user details and will render the resume)
2. Additions to the first feature : a button to download pdf/png can be added then and there on that page, so that the person visiting it can also save it.

This might also help in increasing the user base and popularity of this application as more people will visit the app!

Loved the Resuminator, How about giving the user a little more freedom in which section they want that particular skill to show up. Maybe by using key-value pair.

Like springboot shows up in Miscellaneous but I want it in backend or software development.

• The name in the Resume needs to be added through the section provided for the name. It'll not be taken from the Name you used while Signing Up.

• As of now, You can not customize co-curricular activities and you can use the Achievements section for it. To Enable Achievements section,
  • Click on Avatar on Top Right Corner
  • Go to "User Settings"
  • Scroll Down to Resume Section
  • Enable the Achievements Tabs

Suggestions

• Unable to remove a section e.g Projects from the resume. Please provide an option to add/remove sections
• The gap between words is quite inconsistent. Have attached a sample screenshot below for your reference from my experience section.
  
• If we have the ability to tinker with fonts and colors that would also be a great addition.
