Short character limit before hitting wrapping

Describe the bug

The default 80 character limit (inc prompt) means its fairly likely users copy pasting commands will hit the limit and see characters wrapping over existing input. Is there a reason not to add COLUMNS = 200 / greater to the default .bashrc? (Or achieve same outcome another way)
