Poor performance with files in Google Drive #1002

I'm experiencing poor performance in VimR while working with files in Google Drive: after saving the file a few times, input becomes very laggy.

This does not happen with Neovim in the terminal (version 0.8.3, iTerm2 version 3.4.19).

VimR version 0.44
- I tried 0.43 as suggested in Version 0.44 performance regression #997, but experienced the same poor performance
Google Drive 72.0.2.0, using FileProvider
- I did not experience VimR performance issues before Google switched me to FileProvider
macOS 13.1
