This template should be used (edited) the month prior and during the meeting. This will ensure we can address all topics added throughout the month; as well as provide minutes and follow up after the meeting is held.

Add GC expected duties and responsibilities to PyLadies Kit @BethanyG Pending

New Business

  • Attendance policy

  • GC members stipend

    • GC members don't need to apply for a travel grant
    • it's an acknowledgement of the GC work load, to incentivise (we can think about the opportunities that pyladies might provide for them)
    • before we vote we should have a resolution written out about what it is etc
    • Mariatta will share some resources from Google etc to show how this is done and it will help us to write the resolution
  • List of expected duties

    • do we currently have a list ? No
    • let's see if we have time at the end of the meeting to discuss this if not do it async
    • we could include these rules in the pyladies kit
    • if we can get the decisions on paper (roles and responsibilities)
  • addressing claims of non-constructive criticism

    • there are multiple witnesses to prove that this didn't happen
      • Bethany Garcia
      • Carolina Londono
      • Abigail Mesrenyame Dogbe
    • One of the witnesses has stated (within the forum that the claims were made) "There was feedback, not criticism, it did hurt, but it doesn't mean that it was criticism." and shared messages that were exchanged
    • most of the conversations happened via slack, the slack moderators can access them all to verify that there was no ill treatment.
  • addressing disapproval of the traditional leadership structure

    • present facts to show how long we spent trying to understand both ideas/proposals/ perspectives
    • there was a majority vote in favour of a traditional structure (which was for accountability and organising meeting). Each member was a lead of their own area. Chair and Vice chair organised meetings etc and led separate areas too
    • there was not clarity of roles and responsibilities (i.e how to represent pyladies etc.)
    • there was no clandestine voting or attempt to place specific people as chair or vice chair, everyone had an opportunity to put themselves forward to be chair of vice chair. Only two people did this
    • the traditional structure was not what they are presenting it to be, we are all leaders of different areas
    • there was a misalignment with various things, what can learn from this and how can we move forward?
      • being clear about the role, responsibilities, perspective, we represent a region and the organisation, we need to understand that we should try to get there together
      • explain that we were empowered as leaders and voted for a structure

Old Business: Follow up items from prior meeting:

  • Definition of an official PyLadies chapter
  • PyLadies mission statement
  • Global Council Election 2023
