Since commit 91f9f16 the calculation of the CML coverage is done without the usage of geopandas to remove it as a dependency. The anticipated "small decrease of speed" of the calculation actually is sever for large grids...

Hence, this has to be speed up again, either by bringing back geopandas or, better, by finding a faster solution using shapely
