cursor disappearing in white tabs when a light theme is used

I'm using a light theme (light variant of the papercolor theme), and now my tabs are white, but the cursor is white as well so when it enters the area of a tab, it disappears, is there a way to make it change/adadpt the cursor's color by setting a configuration specific to the vim-indent-guides? TYIA.
