I think if you are trying to make this app look like Gnome one thing that jumps out at me immediately is the lack of a drop shadow.

For some reason this is super apparent to me. This app has no drop shadow.

Do you mean borders? I have already opened an issue regarding it at bitsdojo/bitsdojo_window#97
