(How) Can I pass path to Dockerfile using Kaniko?

Context

Let's say I have following structure

root
├──model_files
├──polyaxonfiles
│      ├──build.yml
│      └──run.yml
├──utils
└──dockerfiles
         ├──Dockerfile.0
         └──Dockerfile.1

my build looks as simple as:

version: 1.1
kind: operation
name: build
params:
  context:
    value: "{{ globals.run_artifacts_path }}/uploads"
  destination:
    connection: docker-registry
    value: machine-learning/polyaxon-tutorial:1

hubRef: kaniko

Running this with command

polyaxon run -f polyaxonfiles/build.yml -u

Gives me very much expected error:

Error: error resolving dockerfile path: please provide a valid path to a Dockerfile within the build context with --dockerfile

So the Kaniko expects Dockerfile to exist in root of the context by default. Does the polyaxonfile specification exposes a way to overwrite the default as suggested with error message?

Hi @captaincapitalism, next release we will be pushing a new set of guides, including guides for building containers and how to pass a custom dockerfile context.

We will update this thread as soon as we start updating the documentation's guides section.

This section explains how to customize both the context and the Dockerfile path relative to the context.
We plan on releasing v1.9.1 tomorrow which includes the necessary changes that will make the content of that guide possible.

Amazing, thank you for coming back. I was trying to do something similar but as I understand correctly the proper API was not exposed before 1.9.1.

The kaniko component now exposes a new field dockerfile which is a subpath to the file relative to the context.
Before v1.9.1 there was an issue with how Polyaxon handles strings which was resulting in unnecessary additional quotes.
