In v8, the names of compressed texture formats were changed compared to v7:
v7 -> v8
bptc -> bc7, bc6h
etc -> etc2
s3tc (s3tc_sRGB) -> bc1, bc2, bc3
It breaks backward compatibility. Is it possible to maintain such naming with backward compatibility, considering that the format can be defined not only in the application code but also in the asset names? As a result, migrating to v8 would require much less effort and would not necessitate asset recompilation.
