Why do relational fields show only english values even if Pimcore is set to German?

Hi,

I'm facing a very strange behaviour in Pimcore. I've set up an article class and work with a hierarchy: Business Unit, Category and Subcategory. Those are their own object classes with their name within localized fields. This ensures that we are able to extract the names in different languages.

However when I want to set the value in the article object class I see the english names although Pimcore is set to German completely:

Within the system settings I have set the admin system language to "German" and as a fallback in english I set "de". So as long as there is no english Value, the drop down menu will show the german names. That works.. but now I'm maintaining the english names as well and suddenly all drop down menus for the hierarchy switched to english.

I can't find any button or setting to change this behaviour, I've also checked the class definition where the getter is defined. It doesn't seem to use any language setting.

I have also tried something different: I have removed the fallback language AND the english value of the text. So there's only the german Name available. This is what the drop down looks like:

I doubt that this is an expected behaviour..

So how does Pimcore determine what language to use and how can I change it? If Pimcore is set to German it would be great to see the german values..
