Two way sync information #1854
Comments
The missing information in the "for context" is whether the Google calendars and the Outlook "instances" (I'm not sure what you mean by that) you have are all within the same Google account, or each in a separate account. For the former, you can just use Profiles, one for each Outlook calendar you want to sync. If the latter, you would need to run multiple instances of OGCS, one for each Google account. This is covered in more details here.
If it's just for your reference in Google to see your commitments, then I absolutely agree - I would strongly recommend you don't sync more than one Outlook calendar to a single Google calendar - better to create a calendar for each within the same Google account and then just overlay them (make them visible at the same time). Each Google calendar can be assigned a different default colour. Similarly, the other Google calendars (eg the 3rd client calendar), if you own that in the same account, just overlay it with the others. If it's in another account or someone else owns it, get it shared with your Google account with the appropriate permissions - I doubt there is any need to sync it with OGCS. |
Hi -
I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean. Here are the four accounts
I'm trying to sync:
1. My work Google account: ***@***.***
2. My personal Google account: ***@***.***
3. Client account 1: outlook
4. Client account 2: outlook
They all have different login information from the get-go (e.g., when I
login to sharepoint with one client, I have to fully log out to get back
into the sharepoint for my other client).
*Ideally, I'd* have all of the appointments from the four accounts show up
on my ***@***.*** with full details (e.g., attendees, location,
etc.). It should show as busy on all other accounts without any other
details. Does that help clarify? Is there a way to do that?
My problem with the overlay is that if a client tries to book me at a time
that I have a meeting with a different client, I don't show as busy.
Again, perhaps I'm misunderstanding. I am open to a conversation or a zoom
to get this settled if you're willing to do some consulting for me :).
Thanks!

Right now, it seems like my calendar is color coded (which I set up in
this sync) but they're not different calendars in gcal, I think it would be
better to have different calendars on the LHS of google

First you said "I think it would be better to have different calendars on the LHS of google" and then "My problem with the overlay is that if a client tries to book me at a time that I have a meeting with a different client, I don't show as busy.". Those two are mutually exclusive - if you have different calendars then it's overlay, if you want to show your complete availability then that's a single calendar with all the other calendars merged into one.
What has SharePoint got to do with your email account in Outlook? You should be able to set up more than one Office 365 account in Outlook so you don't have to keep closing and reopening under a different Outlook mail profile. If you want to be able to configure OGCS to sync automatically, you need to make sure OGCS can access both client calendars without having to close and reopen Outlook.
Replying by email has meant your email addresses have been masked - I don't know which one you are referring to.
What shows busy on all other accounts? If you've sync your Outlook calendars to Google, surely your clients on Outlook will still be booking via Outlook - they have no visibility of your Google account. This is very confused.... let me try and rephrase what I think you're wanting to achieve:
To do that, here's my suggestion:
I think that should be Outlook client A can see client B's appointments, but they are all private (so on free/busy) and vice-versa. That would just leave the Google client and working out how to bring them in too... |
Are you already using OGCS?
Provide the version number. 2.10.4.0
Describe the question you have
Hi - I am not a technical person, I am a consultant. This tool I just found and is really great thus far. I did have a few questions.
If there is an option to speak to someone in product to help me get setup here, I would really really appreciate it*
For context:
Ideal state:
Are any of these things possible today? Might they be in the near future? Again, would love to hop on the phone to get things set up if you're wiling / able.
THANK YOU!
