Hi Paolo,
I have problems with your msi installer.

  1. there is no information about installation per one user (c:\users\username\AppData\local, I expect: \program files* for all users)
  2. icon on Desktop or Start Menu wasn't created, so I must search, where it was installed. Installer do not show install path.
  3. You cannot install msi installer from another disk than C:, msi installer say there is no free space on disk :) See image.
  4. maybe there is problem with signing msi package. Windows warn about it. SmartScreen in WinDefender. See image.

Thank you for the hints!

  1. I understand, but I'll keep the installer with the per-user installation. I'm afraid, however, that I've little control on its creation so I will not add a message (I use jpackage, which handles WiX by itself).
  2. In the version 1.1 installer I've added an option to create the program icons, let me know if it works.
  3. Weird, I'm still waiting to try to reproduce this one myself.
  4. I've signed the 1.1 installer with a self-signed certificate, however SmartScreen still complains. I'm afraid that it will take some time before SmartScreen will come to trust this setups. Oh well, I'm still not going to buy a CA-signed certificate for this. :-)

Thank you very much again, I'm leaving this issue open to keep track of the installer issues.

  1. It is OK, path is shown during install v1.1
  2. It works
  3. Maybe the problem occurs with situation that I have: hidden disk C: through GPO. But with installation v1.1 this problem is not presented any more. I try upgrade (v1.0->v1.1) and also remove and new install. It works.
  4. I understand it. But now it is a little more worst. SmartScreen complains-you know it. But now Symantec AV complains too. I must set (confirm) exception for the install file.

I suggest to close whole issue. Best regards.

Heh I have no clue about the Symantec AV complaint. As for SmartScreen, I've filed the "Report this download as safe" suggested by the Edge browser, we'll see if it'll do any good.
