Inserting images from URL, without uploading them to S3

Might be that I haven't figured this out yet, but is there a way to just insert and image from its URL, rather than having to upload it? I think I should be able to do it in the markdown directly somehow?

Yes, you can do this by typing the markdown for the image – ![caption](http://....)

Sorry if I am missing something but how can I insert this markdown in the outline editor (I am trying right now on getoutline.com). In contrast to typing "# " for a markdown headline that is recognized, typing " " does insert the characters verbatim.

It could be you're typing in a place where images aren't allowed – try on an empty paragraph? It definitely works.

Hi, you can paste that ![test](https://media.wired.com/photos/5b899992404e112d2df1e94e/master/pass/trash2-01.jpg) into a doc and it will work correctly :)

Oh right, that's interesting, so typing ![test](and then pasting the URL doesn't work: it creates a link.
But writing the whole thing somewhere else (![test](https://my-url)), then pasting it works!
It is a little bit counter-intuitive, I would definitely add that to the doc or alter the behavior.
