Wrong capture group index

Here the problem:

With a capture group \1 I expect the substitution to be what the plugin outputs using the capture group \2:

I experience this, as well. It appears to just deal with the "live" replacement. If you execute the replacement with the correct capture group(\1), it produces the expected output. Also, if you execute with the incorrect capture group (\2), it does not produce the expected output.
