Hey thank you very much for your help, the step issue is the biggest problem to me. I would be really interested in seeing how you've done it with paper. |

I was also starting to write code to place blocks with direction (levers, buttons, stairs, etc.) when clicking on a note block. I never finished, but maybe something will come in handy.

Once I tried cancel string physics, maybe some of my code will come in handy, although it may be terrible.
This applies to 1.17 and I don't know if it changed in 1.18.
When a string is set or destroyed next to another, despite the cancellation of the event, state changes for client side. We have to update the state of all adjacent strings.
Canceling BlockPhysicsEvent will not help if the attached string breaks. The state will change.
I wrote an event for myself, but you don't have to do this, since it is used only once.
Also, if you step on string, BlockPhysicsEvent or PlayerInteractEvent not cancel one of the state parameters.
Canceling EntityInsideBlockEvent from Paper helped. I can't even imagine how to do this on Spigot without a server patching.
